"TraM is a DNA-binding protein, encoded by plasmid DNA. TraM forms active tetramers to bridge the origin of transfer of the plasmid (oriT) to a TraD pore (a coupling protein). As such, TraM is essential for conjugative transfer of DNA between bacteria.
