FunFam 202: Short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase family 16C mem...

There are 2 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
All-trans-retinol dehydrogenase (NAD(+)). [EC: 1.1.1.105]
All-trans-retinol-[cellular-retinol-binding-protein] + NAD(+) = all- trans-retinal-[cellular-retinol-binding-protein] + NADH.
  • The enzyme recognizes all-trans-retinol and all-trans-retinal as substrates and exhibits a strong preference for NAD(+)/NADH as cofactors.
  • Recognizes the substrate both in free form and when bound to cellular-retinol-binding-protein (CRBP1), but has higher affinity for the bound form.
  • No activity with 11-cis-retinol or 11-cis-retinal (cf. EC 1.1.1.315).
  • Also active with 3-alpha-hydroxysteroids.
2 Q7TQA3 Q8N3Y7
Alcohol dehydrogenase. [EC: 1.1.1.1]
(1) A primary alcohol + NAD(+) = an aldehyde + NADH. (2) A secondary alcohol + NAD(+) = a ketone + NADH.
  • Acts on primary or secondary alcohols or hemi-acetals with very broad specificity; however the enzyme oxidizes methanol much more poorly than ethanol.
  • The animal, but not the yeast, enzyme acts also on cyclic secondary alcohols.
