FunFam 12: TAF6-like protein

Please note: GO annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

GO Term Annotations Evidence
Transcription initiation from RNA polymerase II promoter GO:0006367
Any process involved in the assembly of the RNA polymerase II preinitiation complex (PIC) at an RNA polymerase II promoter region of a DNA template, resulting in the subsequent synthesis of RNA from that promoter. The initiation phase includes PIC assembly and the formation of the first few bonds in the RNA chain, including abortive initiation, which occurs when the first few nucleotides are repeatedly synthesized and then released. Promoter clearance, or release, is the transition between the initiation and elongation phases of transcription.

Male meiosis I GO:0007141
A cell cycle process comprising the steps by which a cell progresses through male meiosis I, the first meiotic division in the male germline.
3 Q5UEC4 (/IMP) Q8IG94 (/IMP) Q9VND0 (/IMP)
Spermatogenesis GO:0007283
The process of formation of spermatozoa, including spermatocytogenesis and spermiogenesis.
3 Q5UEC4 (/IMP) Q8IG94 (/IMP) Q9VND0 (/IMP)
Regulation of gene expression GO:0010468
Any process that modulates the frequency, rate or extent of gene expression. Gene expression is the process in which a gene's coding sequence is converted into a mature gene product or products (proteins or RNA). This includes the production of an RNA transcript as well as any processing to produce a mature RNA product or an mRNA or circRNA (for protein-coding genes) and the translation of that mRNA or circRNA into protein. Protein maturation is included when required to form an active form of a product from an inactive precursor form.
3 Q5UEC4 (/IMP) Q8IG94 (/IMP) Q9VND0 (/IMP)
Spermatid differentiation GO:0048515
The process whose specific outcome is the progression of a spermatid over time, from initial commitment of the cell to a specific fate, to the fully functional differentiated cell.
3 Q5UEC4 (/IMP) Q8IG94 (/IMP) Q9VND0 (/IMP)
Spermatid development GO:0007286
The process whose specific outcome is the progression of a spermatid over time, from its formation to the mature structure.
2 Q5UEC4 (/TAS) Q8IG94 (/TAS)
Meiotic cell cycle GO:0051321
Progression through the phases of the meiotic cell cycle, in which canonically a cell replicates to produce four offspring with half the chromosomal content of the progenitor cell via two nuclear divisions.

Male germ cell nucleus GO:0001673
The nucleus of a male germ cell, a reproductive cell in males.
3 Q5UEC4 (/IDA) Q8IG94 (/IDA) Q9VND0 (/IDA)
Transcription factor TFIID complex GO:0005669
A complex composed of TATA binding protein (TBP) and TBP associated factors (TAFs); the total mass is typically about 800 kDa. Most of the TAFs are conserved across species. In TATA-containing promoters for RNA polymerase II (Pol II), TFIID is believed to recognize at least two distinct elements, the TATA element and a downstream promoter element. TFIID is also involved in recognition of TATA-less Pol II promoters. Binding of TFIID to DNA is necessary but not sufficient for transcription initiation from most RNA polymerase II promoters.
3 Q5UEC4 (/ISS) Q8IG94 (/ISS) Q9VND0 (/ISS)
Nucleolus GO:0005730
A small, dense body one or more of which are present in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells. It is rich in RNA and protein, is not bounded by a limiting membrane, and is not seen during mitosis. Its prime function is the transcription of the nucleolar DNA into 45S ribosomal-precursor RNA, the processing of this RNA into 5.8S, 18S, and 28S components of ribosomal RNA, and the association of these components with 5S RNA and proteins synthesized outside the nucleolus. This association results in the formation of ribonucleoprotein precursors; these pass into the cytoplasm and mature into the 40S and 60S subunits of the ribosome.
