FunFam 2221: NAD nucleotidase

There are 3 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
5'-nucleotidase. [EC: 3.1.3.5]
A 5'-ribonucleotide + H(2)O = a ribonucleoside + phosphate.
  • Wide specificity for 5'-nucleotides.

UDP-sugar diphosphatase. [EC: 3.6.1.45]
UDP-sugar + H(2)O = UMP + alpha-D-aldose 1-phosphate.
  • UDP-sugar is the best substrate, although other nucleoside-sugar diphosphates are used as substrates with similar Km values but much lower maximum velocities.
  • Thus, this enzyme has a specificity distinct from that of EC 3.6.1.21.
  • Some but not all enzymes of this class also appear to have EC 3.1.3.5 activity.

NAD(+) diphosphatase. [EC: 3.6.1.22]
NAD(H) + H(2)O = AMP + NMN(H).
  • This enzyme, described from plants, animals, and bacteria, can act on both reduced and oxidized forms of its substrate, although enzymes from different organisms have different preferences.
  • Also acts on other dinucleotides, including NADP(H), FAD(H(2)), and the thionicotinamide analogs of NAD(+) and NADP(+).
