GDP-perosamine synthase. [EC: 2.6.1.102]
GDP-4-amino-4,6-dideoxy-alpha-D-mannose + 2-oxoglutarate = GDP-4-dehydro- 6-deoxy-alpha-D-mannose + L-glutamate.
  • D-perosamine is one of several dideoxy sugars found in the O-specific polysaccharide of the lipopolysaccharide component of the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria.
  • The enzyme catalyzes the final step in GDP-perosamine synthesis.
