FunFam 70624: Polyketide synthase/nonribosomal peptide synthetas...

There are 4 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
(R)-amidase. [EC: 3.5.1.100]
(1) (R)-piperazine-2-carboxamide + H(2)O = (R)-piperazine-2-carboxylate + NH(3). (2) Beta-alaninamide + H(2)O = beta-alanine + NH(3).
  • In addition (R)-piperidine-3-carboxamide is hydrolyzed to (R)- piperidine-3-carboxylic acid and NH(3), and (R)-N-tert- butylpiperazine-2-carboxamide is hydrolyzed to (R)-piperazine-2- carboxylic acid and tert-butylamine with lower activity.
  • The enzyme does not act on the other amide substrates which are hydrolyzed by EC 3.5.1.4 (amidase).

Nitrilase. [EC: 3.5.5.1]
A nitrile + 2 H(2)O = a carboxylate + NH(3).
  • Acts on a wide range of aromatic nitriles including (indol-3- yl)acetonitrile, and also on some aliphatic nitriles, and on the corresponding acid amides (cf. EC 4.2.1.84).

Amidase. [EC: 3.5.1.4]
A monocarboxylic acid amide + H(2)O = a monocarboxylate + NH(3).

    Aralkylamine N-acetyltransferase. [EC: 2.3.1.87]
    Acetyl-CoA + a 2-arylethylamine = CoA + an N-acetyl-2-arylethylamine.
    • Narrow specificity toward 2-arylethylamines, including serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine), tryptamine, 5-methoxytryptamine and phenylethylamine.
    • This is the penultimate enzyme in the production of melatonin (5-methoxy-N-acetyltryptamine) and controls its synthesis (cf. EC 2.1.1.4).
    • Differs from EC 2.3.1.5.
