FunFam 36545: Sulfopyruvate decarboxylase subunit beta

There are 2 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
Sulfopyruvate decarboxylase. [EC: 4.1.1.79]
3-sulfopyruvate = 2-sulfoacetaldehyde + CO(2).
  • Does not decarboxylate pyruvate or phosphonopyruvate.
  • The enzyme appears to be oxygen-sensitive.

Phosphonopyruvate decarboxylase. [EC: 4.1.1.82]
3-phosphonopyruvate = 2-phosphonoacetaldehyde + CO(2).
  • Catalyzes a step in the biosynthetic pathway of 2-aminoethylphosphonate, a component of the capsular polysaccharide complex of Bacteroides fragilis.
  • Activated by the divalent cations Mg(2+), Ca(2+) and Mn(2+).
  • Pyruvate and sulfopyruvate can also act as substrates, but more slowly.
