FunFam 115488: Triacylglycerol lipase, pancreatic, putative

There are 8 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
Triacylglycerol lipase. [EC: 3.1.1.3]
Triacylglycerol + H(2)O = diacylglycerol + a carboxylate.
  • The pancreatic enzyme acts only on an ester-water interface; the outer ester links are preferentially hydrolyzed.

Lipoprotein lipase. [EC: 3.1.1.34]
Triacylglycerol + H(2)O = diacylglycerol + a carboxylate.
  • Hydrolyzes triacylglycerols in chylomicrons and very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL).
  • Also hydrolyzes diacylglycerol.

Carboxylesterase. [EC: 3.1.1.1]
A carboxylic ester + H(2)O = an alcohol + a carboxylate.
  • Wide specificity; also hydrolyzes vitamin A esters.
  • The enzymes from microsomes also catalyze the reactions of EC 3.1.1.2, EC 3.1.1.5, EC 3.1.1.6, EC 3.1.1.23, EC 3.1.1.28, EC 3.1.2.2, EC 3.5.1.4, and EC 3.5.1.13.
  • Formerly EC 3.1.1.12.

Phospholipase A(1). [EC: 3.1.1.32]
Phosphatidylcholine + H(2)O = 2-acylglycerophosphocholine + a carboxylate.
  • Has a much broader specificity than EC 3.1.1.4.

Galactolipase. [EC: 3.1.1.26]
1,2-diacyl-3-beta-D-galactosyl-sn-glycerol + 2 H(2)O = 3-beta-D- galactosyl-sn-glycerol + 2 carboxylates.
  • Also acts on 2,3-di-O-acyl-1-O-(6-O-alpha-D-galactosyl-beta-D- galactosyl)-D-glycerol, and phosphatidylcholine and other phospholipids.

Phospholipase A(2). [EC: 3.1.1.4]
Phosphatidylcholine + H(2)O = 1-acylglycerophosphocholine + a carboxylate.
  • Also acts on phosphatidylethanolamine, choline plasmalogen and phosphatides, removing the fatty acid attached to the 2-position.

Peptidylprolyl isomerase. [EC: 5.2.1.8]
Peptidylproline (omega=180) = peptidylproline (omega=0).
  • The first type of this enzyme found proved to be the protein cyclophilin, which binds the immunosuppressant cyclosporin A.
  • Other distinct families of the enzyme exist, one being FK-506 binding proteins (FKBP) and another that includes parvulin from Escherichia coli.
  • The three families are structurally unrelated and can be distinguished by being inhibited by cyclosporin A, FK-506 and 5-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone, respectively.

Signal peptidase I. [EC: 3.4.21.89]
Cleavage of hydrophobic, N-terminal signal or leader sequences from secreted and periplasmic proteins.
  • Unaffected by inhibitors of most serine peptidases, but site-directed mutagenesis implicates a Ser/Lys catalytic dyad in activity.
  • Cleaves a single bond -Ala-|-Ala- in M13 phage procoat protein, producing free signal peptide and coat protein.
  • Eukaryote signal peptidases that may have somewhat different specificity are known from the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and mitochondrial inner membrane.
  • Belongs to peptidase family S26.
  • Formerly EC 3.4.99.36.
