The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_2_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was: waiting to be named.

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

FunFam 39877: 2-oxoacid:ferredoxin oxidoreductase, ferredoxin su...

There are 3 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
2-oxoglutarate synthase. [EC: 1.2.7.3]
2-oxoglutarate + CoA + 2 oxidized ferredoxin = succinyl-CoA + CO(2) + 2 reduced ferredoxin + 2 H(+).
  • Highly specific for 2-oxoglutarate.
  • This enzyme is a member of the 2-oxoacid oxidoreductases, a family of enzymes that oxidatively decarboxylate different 2-oxoacids to form their CoA derivatives, and are differentiated based on their substrate specificity.
  • For examples of other members of this family, see EC 1.2.7.1 and EC 1.2.7.7.
  • Formerly EC 1.2.7.9.

3-methyl-2-oxobutanoate dehydrogenase (ferredoxin). [EC: 1.2.7.7]
3-methyl-2-oxobutanoate + CoA + 2 oxidized ferredoxin = S-(2-methylpropanoyl)-CoA + CO(2) + 2 reduced ferredoxin + H(+).
  • Preferentially utilizes 2-oxo-acid derivatives of branched chain amino acids, e.g. 3-methyl-2-oxopentanoate, 4-methyl-2-oxo- pentanoate, 2-oxobutyrate and 3-methylthiopropanamine.
  • This enzyme is a member of the 2-oxoacid oxidoreductases, a family of enzymes that oxidatively decarboxylate different 2-oxoacids to form their CoA derivatives, and are differentiated based on their substrate specificity.
  • For examples of other members of this family, see EC 1.2.7.1 and EC 1.2.7.3.

NADH dehydrogenase (quinone). [EC: 1.6.5.11]
NADH + a quinone = NAD(+) + a quinol.
  • Menaquinone or other quinones can act as acceptor.
  • Inhibited by AMP and 2,4-dinitrophenol but not by dicoumarol or folic acid derivatives.
  • Formerly EC 1.6.99.5.
