FunFam 40708: 2,3-dihydroxybenzoate decarboxylase

There are 5 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
Aminocarboxymuconate-semialdehyde decarboxylase. [EC: 4.1.1.45]
2-amino-3-(3-oxoprop-1-en-1-yl)but-2-enedioate = 2-aminomuconate semialdehyde + CO(2).
  • The product rearranges non-enzymically to picolinate.

O-pyrocatechuate decarboxylase. [EC: 4.1.1.46]
2,3-dihydroxybenzoate = catechol + CO(2).

    Salicylate decarboxylase. [EC: 4.1.1.91]
    Salicylate = phenol + CO(2).
    • In the reverse direction the enzyme catalyzes the regioselective carboxylation of phenol into stoichiometric amounts of salicylate.
    • The enzyme also catalyzes the reversible decarboxylation of 2,4- dihydroxybenzoate, 2,6-dihydroxybenzoate, 2,3-dihydroxybenzoate and 4-aminosalicylate.

    3-hydroxyanthranilate 3,4-dioxygenase. [EC: 1.13.11.6]
    3-hydroxyanthranilate + O(2) = 2-amino-3-carboxymuconate semialdehyde.
    • The product of the reaction spontaneously rearrange to quinolinic acid (quin).
    • Formerly EC 1.13.1.6.
    2 Q6W752 Q6W752
    Tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase. [EC: 1.13.11.11]
    L-tryptophan + O(2) = N-formyl-L-kynurenine.
    • Catalyzes, together with EC 1.13.11.52, the first and rate-limiting step in the kynurenine pathway, the major pathway of tryptophan metabolism.
    • Specific for tryptophan as substrate, but is far more active with L-tryptophan than with D-tryptophan.
    • Formerly EC 1.11.1.4 and EC 1.13.1.12.
