"Ribosomal protein L9, C-terminal domain
".
The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_2_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was named:
"L9 comprises two separated globular domains connected by a rigid linker, an exposed alpha-helix, as described in Bacillus stearothermophilus. Each domain contains an rRNA binding site (for 23S rRNA), and both present well-conserved positively charged and aromatic amino acid residues on the surface. The long central alpha-helix varies in length across species and is suggested to have an architectural role in the separation of the N-terminal and C-terminal domains.
