FunFam 169: ABC transporter C family member 3

There are 1 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
ABC-type xenobiotic transporter. [EC: 7.6.2.2]
ATP + H(2)O + xenobiotic(Side 1) = ADP + phosphate + xenobiotic(Side 2).
  • An ATP-binding cassette (ABC) type transporter, characterized by the presence of two similar ATP-binding domains/proteins and two integral membrane domains/proteins.
  • Does not undergo phosphorylation during the transport process.
  • The enzymes from Gram-positive bacteria and eukaryotic cells export a number of drugs with unusual specificity, covering various groups of unrelated substances while ignoring some that are closely related structurally.
  • Several distinct enzymes may be present in a single eukaryotic cell.
  • Many of them also transport glutathione--drug conjugates (see EC 7.6.2.3) while others also show some 'flippase' activity (cf. EC 7.6.2.1).
  • Formerly EC 3.6.3.44.
