FunFam 1: tRNA(His) guanylyltransferase

There are 1 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
TRNA(His) guanylyltransferase. [EC: 2.7.7.79]
p-tRNA(His) + ATP + GTP + H(2)O = pG-P-tRNA(His) + AMP + 2 diphosphate.
  • In eukarya an additional guanosine residue is added post- transcriptionally to the 5'-end of tRNA(His) molecules.
  • The addition occurs opposite a universally conserved adenosine(73) and is thus the result of a non-templated 3'-5' addition reaction.
  • The additional guanosine residue is an important determinant for aminoacylation by EC 6.1.1.21.
  • The enzyme requires a divalent cation for activity.
  • ATP activation is not required when the substrate contains a 5'-triphosphate (ppp-tRNA(His)).
