The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_3_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was named:

"
Delta antigen, N-terminal
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Delta antigen, N-terminal

This superfamily consists of 2 alpha helices.

The delta antigen monomers interact using the longer helix in this superfamily to form dimers, and then these dimers can further interact with other dimers. Four such dimers come together to form octameric complexes, shaped like doughnuts.

It is possible that this octameric complex can then clamp around viral RNA.
