Ribosomal protein L13
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Ribosomal protein L13

This superfamily entry comprises the ribosomal protein L13 found in the large (50S) ribosomal subunit of the bacterial, chloroplast and mitochondrial ribosome. A homologue of L13 can also be found in eukaryotes in the cytosol and in Archaea. In Escherichia coli, L13 is known to be one of the early assembly proteins of the 50S ribosomal subunit. Structurally, the L13 domain is composed of three layers (alpha/beta/alpha) with parallel beta-sheet of four strands.
