This name has been altered since the latest official CATH+ release (v4_2_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was waiting to be named.

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: GTP cyclohydrolase II

According to the literature, members of the structural domains which comprise this superfamily correspond to the structure of GTP cyclohydrolase, also known as ribA, which catalyses the first committed step riboflavin (vitamin b2) biosynthesis (INTERPRO:IPR032677). This domain, being absent in higher eukaryotes, is thought to be a selective antimicrobial drug target PMID:16115872.
