The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_3_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was named:

"
Trimethylamine methyltransferase-like
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Trimethylamine methyltransferase-like

Structural domains comprising this superfamily share the structure of the enzyme trimethylamine methyltransferase (MTTB), which catalyses the transfer of a methyl group from trimethylamine to a trimethylamine-specific corrinoid protein (MttC) and therefore involved in methanogenesis from trimethylamine PMID:10762254. The glycine betaine methyltransferase MtgB also belongs to this superfamily PMID:25313086.
