Haemolymph juvenile hormone binding protein
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: TULIP domain

The entry represents the TULIP (tubular lipid-binding proteins) domain superfamily which is a large group of proteins that bind lipids and other hydrophobic ligands within a central, tubular cavity. Some members are known to exploit this in order to mediate lipid trafficking PMID:20554689. The TULIP fold consists of a long alpha-helix wrapped into a highly curved anti-parallel beta sheet with space between the helix and sheet that forms an internal cavity that allows ligand binding PMID:18291417.
