The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_3_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was named:

"
Replicase polyprotein 1a
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Replicase polyprotein 1a

This superfamily is made up of 8 beta strands and 2 alpha helices.

6 of the beta strands make up an irregular barrel. 4 of these make up one side of the barrel, and 2 the other. The remaining 2 beta strands flank parallel to the barrel.

While associated literature does not outline a sure function of the barrel, it is speculated that under certain conditions this superfamily might interact with parts of the 40S ribosomal subunit.
