Superfamily: Sortilin Vps10-D, 10CC-a domain

Sortilin, also known as neurotensin receptor 3 (NTS3 or NTR3), is a multifunctional receptor belonging to the Vps10 domain family, or sortilins family. It is involved in cell sorting and apoptosis PMID:24985322. It is defined by a unique Vps10-domain (VPS10-D) that binds neurotrophic factors and neuropeptides. This domain constitutes the entire luminal part of Sortilin. Vps10-D consists of three structural domains: The N-terminal domain which is a ten-bladed beta-propeller structure followed by two cysteine rich 10CC-a and 10CC-b domains, which form the 10CC module. The 10CC domains have a low content of secondary structure and both interact extensively with the propeller PMID:19122660. This entry represents the 10CC-a domain.
