Transcription factor DP
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Transcription factor DP

According to available literature members of this superfamily share the structure of the transcription factor DP (dimerization partner), involved in heterodimer formation with E2F, another transcription factor. This heterodimer coordinates the transcription of genes involved in cell cycle progression with both E2F and DP contributing to transcriptional activation. The contribution of DP has been proven relatively recently PMID:27825926, it occurs by virtue of the binding of its C-terminal acidic region to the plekstrin homology (PH) domain of p62 of TFIIH with even higher affinity than E2F1. As a consequence, this domain is annotated in InterPro as a transactivation domain (INTERPRO:IPR014889).
