DUF2063
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: DUF2063

Based on the available literature and abundance of UniProt-SwissProt entries, this corresponds to a DNA binding domain. Many of the available sequence data corresponds to uncharacterised proteins. This is probably due to the very little available structural data and the fact that only relatively recently it has been shown that this domain constitutes a Pfam of its own (PFAM:PF09836).

It can be seen on the EBI that the superfamily representative domain maps extremely well to a Pfam domain named putative DNA-binding domain but that, based on the cited literature, it specifically corresponds to the DNA-binding domain DUF2063. This is the reason why the later has been chosen to design this superfamily.
