The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_3_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was named:

"
PknH-like extracellular domain
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: PknH-like extracellular domain

According to the literature, members of the structural domains which comprise this superfamily correspond to the structure of the extracellular, C-terminal, sensor domain of a group of protein kinases of which PknH is the best characterised. These type of protein kinases are which are mainly found in mycobacteria.

Structural studies have shown a ligand binding cleft and therefore suggest that sensor-domain homologues are involved in the binding of related ligands all involved in the regulation of kinase localization or oligomerization PMID:22727744.
