The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_3_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was named:

"
RNA ligase
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: RNA ligase

The name has been chosen based on UniProt-SwissProt entries which highlight the presence of the structural domains that constitute this superfamily in RNA ligases. This is further backed by both EC and GO entries.

Although RNA ligase 2 seems to be predominant, RNA ligase 1 does appear in some circumstances and there for this specification has not been included in the name.

The name given is consistent with the rest of the literature as well.
