"
30s Ribosomal Protein S19; Chain A
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Ribosomal protein S19/S15

This superfamily entry comprises the eubacterial ribosomal protein S19; algal and plant chloroplast S19; cyanelle S19; archaebacterial S19; plant mitochondrial S19; and eukaryotic S15 ('rig' protein). S19 is moderately exposed on the ribosomal surface, and is designated a secondary rRNA binding protein. In E. coli, S19 is known to form a complex with S13 that binds strongly to 16S ribosomal RNA.
