Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: BCL-6 corepressor, PCGF1 binding domain

Structural domains comprising this superfamily share the structure of the C-terminus of the BCL-6 corepressor (BCOR), involved in PCFG1 (polycomb-group RING finger homologue 1) binding. This domain is very selective in binding and, as a consequence, it has been named PCGF Ub-like fold discriminator (PUFD) which binds to the RAWUL (RING finger- and WD40-associated ubiquitin-like) domain of PCGF1.

PCFGs mediate epigenetic modification of histones through the formation of repressive complexes and which highlights the importance of BCOR in development and health PMID:23523425
