Pex19, mPTS binding domain
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Pex19, mPTS binding domain

PEX genes encode the machinery ("peroxins") required to assemble the peroxisome. Pex19 is involved in membrane assembly and maintenance and functions as a receptor and chaperone of peroxisomal membrane proteins (PMPs). The most significant secondary structure of Pex19 is assembled in a three-helical bundle and represents the mPTS (PMP-targeting signal) binding site, located at the C-terminus.
