Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Regulator of RNA polymerase sigma(70) subunit, domain 4

This superfamily represents a structural domain of sigma 70 thatis a target for many transcriptional activators and has a key role in binding the RNAP beta-subunit flap-tip. Domain 4 comprises a compact structural core of three helices. The last two alpha-helices of the structural core make up the helix-turn-helix motif that is responsible for recognition of the promoter -35 element 13.
