"
PAS domain
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: PAS domain

Structural domains comprising this superfamily share the structure of the PAS domain of the sensor region in the cytosolic histidine kinase (HK), PdtaS, from Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The N-terminal region of this protein is comprised of closely linked GAF and PAS domains (Superfamily 3.30.450.20), both are ubiquitous and form dimeric interfaces.

PAS domains are known to bind a variety of substrates including chromophores, heme, flavin nucleotides, dioxin and even fatty acids PMID:22115998.
