"
VirB8 protein
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: VirB8 protein

According to the literature, members of the structural domains which comprise this superfamily correspond to the structure of the bacterial virulence protein VirB8, a component of a DNA transporter. This protein is necessary for the stabilisation of the inner membrane protein VirB3 and it has cytoplasmic, transmembrane, and periplasmic regions. The latter interacts with VirB9, VirB10 and itself PMID:11371528. Another member of this superfamily is the TrbF protein family, involved in conjugal transfer.

This domain has a similar fold to the NTF2 protein (INTERPRO:IPR007430)
