Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: NAB conserved domain 2

Nab proteins constitute an evolutionarily conserved family of co-repressors that specifically interact with and repress transcription mediated by three members of the NGFI-A (Egr-1, Krox24, zif/268) family of immediate-early gene transcription factors. Available literature suggests that Nab1, one of the Nab proteins, repression is not specific to particular activators and that Nab1 is an active repressor that works by a direct mechanism. The repression function in this proteins is localized to the Nab conserved domain 2 (NCD2).
