FunFam 40792: Cytosine deaminase protein

There are 6 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
Cytosine deaminase. [EC: 3.5.4.1]
Cytosine + H(2)O = uracil + NH(3).
  • Also acts on 5-methylcytosine.

    N-isopropylammelide isopropylaminohydrolase. [EC: 3.5.4.42]
    N-isopropylammelide + H(2)O = cyanuric acid + isopropylamine.
    • This bacterial enzyme is involved in degradation of the herbicide atrazine.
    • It can hydrolyze other N-substituted amino dihydroxy-s-triazine molecules, and prefers substrates with linear N-alkyl groups to those with branched alkyl groups.
    • Formerly EC 3.5.99.4.

    Cytidine deaminase. [EC: 3.5.4.5]
    (1) Cytidine + H(2)O = uridine + NH(3). (2) 2'-deoxycytidine + H(2)O = 2'-deoxyuridine + NH(3).
    • Catalyzes the deamination of cytidine and 2'-deoxycytidine with similar efficiencies.
    • The enzyme, which is widely distributed among organisms, is involved in salvage of both exogenous and endogenous cytidine and 2'-deoxycytidine for UMP synthesis.
    • Formerly EC 3.5.4.14.

      Pterin deaminase. [EC: 3.5.4.11]
      A 2-amino-4-hydroxypteridine + H(2)O = a 2,4-dihydroxypteridine + NH(3).
      • The animal enzyme is specific for pterin, isoxanthopterin and tetrahydropterin.
