The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_2_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was: waiting to be named.

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: NADH-quinone oxidoreductase, subunit D

Structural domains comprising this superfamily share the structure of subunit D (NuoD), also known as the 49kDa subunit, of NADH-ubiquinone oxidoreductase (Complex I) which catalyzes the first step of oxidative phosphorylation, the oxidation of NADH by ubiquinone PMID:9684860. Complex I couples this oxidoreduction reaction with an active proton transport across the mitochondrial inner membrane or the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane. This subunit is desginated Nqo4 in Thermus terminology. NuoD/Nqo4/49k is involved in the binding and reduction of Q PMID:20979355.
