The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_3_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was named:

"
RNA polymerase inhibitor
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: RNA polymerase inhibitor

Structural domains comprising this superfamily share the structure of the RNA polymerase inhibitor Gp2 of phage T7. Gp2 is non-DNA-binding transcription factor that interacts with the jaw domain of the Escherichia coli (Ec) RNA polymerase (RNAp) beta' subunit and inhibits transcriptionally proficient promoter-complex (RPo) formation. It expressed in the late stage of lytic development, is also essential for continuous synthesis of phage DNA and functions in the packaging of the viral genome into the mature phage particle PMID:338933,PMID:24218560,PMID:22819324.
