Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Amidohydrolase

This superfamily includes metal dependent hydrolase enzymes PMID:9144792, such as adenine deaminase (EC:3.5.4.2) that hydrolyses adenine to form hypoxanthine and ammonia. This reaction is important for adenine utilisation as a purine and also as a nitrogen source PMID:8550522. The superfamily also includes dihydroorotase and N-acetylglucosamine-6-phosphate deacetylases (EC:3.5.1.25).
