-!- Cutin, a polymeric structural component of plant cuticles, is an hydroxy fatty acid polymer, usually C(16) or C(18) and that contains one to three hydroxyl groups. -!- The enzyme from several fungal sources also hydrolyzes the p-nitrophenyl esters of hexadecanoic acid. -!- It is however inactive toward several esters that are substrates for non-specific esterases.
