Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Cytochrome P460

This superfamily includes cytochrome P460 characterised in Nitrosomonas europea. It is a monoheme c-type cytochrome, a homodimeric structure with a predominantly beta-sheet fold. The chromophore possesses unusual spectral properties analogous to those of the catalytic heme P460 of hydroxylamine oxidoreductase (HAO), the only known heme in biology to withdraw electrons from substrate coordinated to the iron PMID:17583915.
