".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Stage V sporulation protein AD

Structural domains comprising this superfamily share the structure of the bacterial stage V sporulation protein AD (SpoVAD), one of six proteins encoded by the spoVA operon, which is only transcribed in the forespore at the same time as dipicolinic acid (DPA) synthesis takes place in the mother cell. The functions of the proteins encoded by the spoVA operon are yet to be determined, but it thought that they are involved in DPA transport during sporulation PMID:11751839.
