Cell division activator CedA
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Cell division activator CedA

Structural domains comprising this superfamily share the structure of the protein CedA, involved in the regulation of cell division in Escherichia coli and related organisms. It is structurally similar to dsDNA-binding domains and it has been found to interact with dsDNA. The protein comprises four antiparallel beta-strands, an alpha-helix, and a large unstructured N-terminus. As dsDNA binding domains, it may also bind dsDNA by inserting the beta-sheet into the major groove of the DNA PMID:15865419.
