Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Desulphoferrodoxin, N-terminal domain

Most members of this superfamily are small proteins that from homodimeric complexes, such as desulphoredoxin. Each subunit contains a high-spin iron atom tetrahedrally bound to four cysteinyl sulphur atoms. This superfamily has a similar fold to the rubredoxin metal binding domain. This domain is often found at the N-terminus of desulphoferrodoxin (see PFAM:PF01880, INTERPRO:IPR002742, CATH superfamily 2.60.40.730).

PFAM:PF06397, INTERPRO:IPR004462
