The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_3_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was named:

"
Dynein heavy chain, N-terminal domain 2
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Dynein motor heavy chain, linker domain, N-terminal subdomain

Dyneins are microtubule-based AAA+ motor complexes that power ciliary beating, cell division, cell migration and intracellular transport. The motor domain comprises the AAA+ ring and three additional structural units: the linker, stalk/strut (both of which are major functional units of the heavy chain) and C sequence PMID:22398446. This entry represents the N-terminal subdomain of the linker.
