What is a Structural Neighbour?

The term "structural neighbour" is used here to describe two CATH domains that share a degree of structural similarity. The SSAP algorithm is used to calculate this similarity and works by generating a structure-based pairwise alignment of the two domains then scoring this alignment using a RMSD score which has been normalised by the length of the larger domain divided by the number of aligned residues (SIMAX).

COMMENT: move 1gteA03 to 3.50.50.60. same superfamily in SCOP, great SSAP. Structure poorly resolved but a fold match for the 3.50.50.60 superfamily. there are other 3.40.50.720 that could in theory be moved, but not convinced of architecture match. move only 1gteA03 FINAL: move 1gteA03 --> 3.50.50.60

Assigning domain 1gteA03 to 3.40.50.720 (as agreed with the CATH update team) after the chain has been rechopped. The reason is that the domain is very similar to the old domain 1gteA03 (from the previous chopping at "Sun Mar 5 16:41:08 2006") which was in 3.40.50.720 at the time the chain was unchopped.
